when I decided to experiment with true macro ( 1:1 capable ) ( I already had an older Tamron 70 - 300 zoom/macro capable of 1:2 )
I did a little research here at the forum,
learned that a designated macro lens would be very sharp overall.
decided I wanted " some length " since my targets would be pollinators in real life and not in a studio and I would gain a short telephoto lens at the same time
so I decided I wanted a " longer " focal length
and when a used D FA 100mm F2.8 macro ( not WR ) came available on the forum's market place, I jumped all over it.
I am very glad I did
