First image is an uncropped 13 image stack, originals taken with my 90mm Tokina with 1:1 adapter. Second is cropped from the same stacked image. Wonder why I've kept this lens for 40+ years?

I'm not wondering why you keep it. I showed the cropped image to my wife and it looks like she is not going out into our garden any time soon. Well until I tell her that I did not take it. After years of seeing my poor images she should have realised it was not mine. Stacking is very effective. Great image!

Thank you so much for compliments. I'd say I'm sorry if I spooked your wife , but truth is, even as a little kid I loved to get a squeak or scream from someone. My mother was terrified of worms, so I would sometimes leave a handful of night crawlers captured early AM on the kitchen table. Once I put a rubber fishing lure worm between the platens of a waffle-maker I knew she intended to use. I heard about that for years. Our daughter is terrified of snakes, so guess whose bed got a rubber one?

Quick, quick! Open any random thread and post a comment - several comments - many comments on any random image. Post something irrelevant on any thread.. We've posted only a bit over 73% of the number of posts needed for someone to get a free K1, but almost 77% of the month is gone (23/30) and at my location, 1/4 of today is gone. We need to post vigorously, excessively for just one week. Do it! I don't need the camera, but I'd sure like to see someone get it.

The thing about going away is returning and catching-up on what's been posted. I go off for a week or two and instead of having the daily AM twenty or thirty posts to check on the threads I follow, there are several hundred. Takes days and days to go through them and post comments or praise where justified. And I feel obliged, as I hope for an occasional comment on my posts, I feel it's my responsibility to look at every posted image and comment if appropriate. In general, people feel obliged to respond-in-kind.


An interesting experiment was run: the protagonists sent Christmas cards to totally random people all across the country, literally flipping open a phone book and stabbing a pin blindfolded to select a recipient. The vast majority of those receiving the cards sent one back, sometimes with long handwritten newsy messages about their doings over the past year, and a significant number continued to send cards years after.. - to a total stranger, apparently on the chance it was someone they actually knew, even though they could not remember who or when. The recipients felt a need to respond in kind that was stronger than any suspicion that the card they received was an error of identification or wrongly addressed.
