It was moving its head constantly to the center and towards me, constantly. I've never seen a dragonfly do this before.

in my experience ( limited as it is ) I have learned that my SMC Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro has utility far beyond its fine Macro capability

[ as I approached the feeder, saw the bird and took some photos just to see by the time I got close bird was gone, similar photos posted here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/291019-pri...ml#post4430107 and https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/291019-pri...ml#post4430837 ]

Aside from utility as a short telephoto, macro lenses commonly have very nice bokeh for backgrounds.

when I first started to look at a macro lens, I read that they would be very sharp lenses for things other than macro

I am a believer after buying the D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro and the DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited

but here I would guess that I am " preaching to the Choir " when I mention that

Almost looks like a hyper-realistic painting rather than a photograph. Something in the lighting = very uniform with minimal water surface reflections near the frog. It seems to be floating in space rather than in the water.

That "floating" effect is what caught my eye and led me to take this picture.

Good eye in that case. Your reply comment led me to a correction in my comment. Thanks for that.
