This is one of my ant queens (solenopsis fugax). She's still founding and approaching diapause (hibernation) and likely won't begin laying until after.

Thanks! Actually, that's broken glass from a damaged bus shelter, not ice. I did some more shooting of it that I posted here prime, prime, everywhere a prime... - Page 522 - PentaxForums.com and here The Bokeh Club - Page 1114 - PentaxForums.com

Interesting! It sure looked like ice to me -- maybe because the W word is looming over the horizon here in the Canadian Rockies.

Here's the crime scene:

It's been like this for several days. I'm surprised that nobody's cleaned this up.

They went through a stage of having glass bus stops everywhere here too, however you'd see more smashed ones than normal.

I have an aversion to people who leave broken glass around. When I was 6 years old Someone had thrown a bottle into the school yard and just the base was there. Cut four tendons in my right (dominant) wrist and destroyed the artery when I tripped playing tag. I still give my doctors fits because there is no pulse. 63 years later.

Understandably so, Canada_Rockies. Modern safety glass that breaks into little pieces as shown above is a huge innovation.

Here are a couple of older macro shots I like; the blueberries I think were taken with my A* 200 macro.
