Thank you edom31 for posting this comparison. It’s very interesting how modern macro lenses resolve details while older lenses do a perfect reproduction (without pixel peeping). Probably the Macro-Takumar shows the details better at f5.6 or f8. For me, the comparison between lenses to make a ranking or a decision should be made with the manufacturer‘s recommended f-stop and for shure, it always will be a comparison between apples and pears in that way
Thank you - yes, my method is not scientific (handheld on the field, no tripod...) - but it is fun to spot the different reproductions based on the lens.

It is neat that lenses have different renderings. The renderings may be bunched tighter than other lenses, but they are still there. Fascinating.

Thanks for sharing,

That's an amazing amount of detail. Even in the - I think - paper you used as the background.

Thank you, yeah, I just used a sheet of printer paper I had handy as the background. I think next time I'll use a darker background to make the feather pop more.

Thank you! Yellow is the one colour I've noted always come out lovely with the K macros (100mm and 50mm) = other colours are not bad at all, but the yellows really come out.

I still haven't found anything else that I feel like shooting with the 100mm Dental Macro, but I think I'll "force" myself to use it by making sure it's the only lens I take on my next walk.

I don't own any lighting equipment, so I improvised with a 30 second exposure and the shades pulled down on the window that's next to my desk. I don't know, perhaps a light box is in my future.
