Got referred by les3547...guess I'll join the club.

Some quick snaps of Valentine's Day flowers with the Nokton 58mm in dream mode (f/1.4):

Voigtlander 58mm, F8, 1/400

A lot of us value the VL 58mm for its bokeh and ability to produce dreamy pictures; but stop it down even to F2 and the change is dramatic; at F8 it renders amazing resolution. This picture was taken from about 18 inches away:

Nice, where was that taken? It's certainly a nice illusion...looks to me like mountain peeks coming out of a sea of hazy clouds.

Thanks Jeff. It was taken near here where I live, which is about 14 miles from the Pacific. It is a picture of giant coastal hills in the distance which actually were above the position from where I photographed; but I thought it appeared as though one is looking downhill into either clouds with hills and mountains rising through the clouds, or possibly the ocean with islands peeping through fog on the water. In reality, it is all clouds . . . red with black clouds arranged just right to give the impression of mountains or land, and clear sky in between.

Nice spring series! I think the second one is the best. Nice bokeh!

Sigh...the 125mm Lanthar, the only lens in my opinion that tops my Bokina. Enjoy it!

Keeping in mind the second picture of the bee is just a crop of the first picture (which is not cropped), I believe it was taken from about three feet away. I could have gotten closer since the Nokton focuses as close as 1.5 feet/45cm.

I have noticed that the Nokton is sharper at standard distances like the one you shot, and softer (dreamier some would say) at minimum focus distance.

Good capture btw!
