A 75mm made by whom?

Voigtländer APO Lanthar 125mm f/2.5 - one of my all time favourites in Pentax mount.
Great shot Bart. I think B&W was an excellent processing choice. The VL 125 is the only one I don't have, I keep waiting for someone to take pity on me and sell me theirs at a decent price.

I've heard rumors (maybe in this thread) that VL 75/2.5 formula was bought by Pentax and then used to produce Pentax DA 70/2.4 lens. The VL lens was discontinued shortly before DA 70/2.4 came out. Do you have DA 70/2.4 to compare? Just curious. Personally, I don't think that's true. The images that I've seen from DA 70 are quite different from yours VL. But interesting... You are one of quite a few people owning VL 75/2.5, so you can probably tell something from your experience.
I've never heard that one, and I don't have a DA 70 to compare. I have owned quite a few DA lenses, including two Limiteds; I also was loaned the FA31 Limited by a member for a
shootout against the Contax/Zeiss 28mm; finally, let me throw in that in my film days I owned a few Leica lenses. From my experience I would say the DA lenses, Limited or not, are very different from Voigtlander -- a closer match to the VL lenses would be the FA Limiteds and Leica. Zeiss, when they get it right, seem warmest of any lens I've tried.
A difference I believe I notice between DA lenses and the VLs (besides color rendering) is edges. Excluding macro lenses, which are normally extra-razor sharp, the VL lenses seem to create edges that look to have a bit of depth to them, while DA lenses (to my eye) seem to create images that look flat in the picture. The DA lens might create a crisper image, but I believe the VLs create a more natural image (and without loss of detail) since in real life our eyes do see an image in 3D (I believe the same quality is found in many FA LTDs, Zeiss and Leica lenses).
