Anyone used a Nokton 58/1.4 SLII with the K1? Mind sharing your shots?
Hi Vince,

Funny, I was just now sitting here thinking of how my opinion of the Nokton has taken a big leap since I acquired the K-1. It is becoming my favorite lens. On the K-7/K-3 it was a weird FL for me—I was never able to appreciate it that much and so I sold it. I wish I had an APSC camera to compare it to now, but my impression is that the K-1 brings out potential APSC could not.

I reacquired it before I had the K-1. When I knew I'd be getting it soon, I start looking for a normal lens. Before the Nokton, I first tried out the Zeiss Makro 50 1.4 and the Sigma 50 1.4 Art. They were great lenses, but to me the Nokton beats them both on the K-1.

Is the K-1 bringing out the best qualities of the Nokton, or maybe I'm relating really well to the Nokton's "normal" FL? I don't know. But part of what is impressing me is that I have 3 other Voigtlanders, all of which I liked better on APSC and have better reputations than the VL 58 (the 90, 125, and 180). But if I were forced to live with just one lens, based on the way it performs on the K-1 I'd choose the Nokton.

Thanks for the write up Les, good to hear it's working out better this go 'round. On my K-5 I'd usually like shooting it at f/2.2 or higher, but occasionally the wide open shots would pan out. Are you finding that the lens is more useful wide open, or is it just much more useful stopped down now that the DOF is narrower for similar compositions?

When I had to replace my Nokton, I went with an A50/1.2. It gives me a similar style (as expected), and I'm looking forward to trying it on a K-1 later this year.

Well, I will eagerly be awaiting your shots with the K1+VL Nokton 58/1.4 combo Les!

Hi
I unearthed a favorite old lens. I've been in school and not shooting very much at all, and took out the K20D (and a yellow Lab) for a walk. Love this lens...
Thanks!

Voigtlander 20/3.5..... Anna reckons the edges are too sharp..... unlike most lens reviewers....it reminds me of the DA 15 on crop.

opps.. but to say, it's a small comact lens which was long forgotten. In the past, i wanted this lens, but in the end, settle for DA21 for the AF. However, once you gotten K1, it's hard to not look for an alternative lens for wider shots.

What F-stop & ISO for the above shot?

One more with the lens.

I like the way the K-1 allows you to use much higher ISO allowing lenses like the 20 to be shot at smaller aperture ...

This shot was iso 1600, f11, 1/25
