Vivitar changed the look to match their series 1s. They all use Samyang's coatings. Their quality, UMC, coating is one of the selling points.

I have pro optic 8mm and Vivitar 13/2.8 and 85/1.4. Aside from aesthetics, I can't tell any difference in either coatings or optical quality. There were some rumors that the Vivitar could potentially have different coatings but I don't buy that one

Thanx Lowell. It also occurred to me since there's no price differential between the Vivitar & others, it's likely there was no 'value add' added to Vivitar's version.

It started raining so I didn't go out and get the Bower from Adorama. But I likely will within the next few days.

Welp, when I went over to Adorama they didn't have the Bower in stock and didn't expect it until September. So I rode over to B&H and picked it up in Vivitar guise ; 15 minutes to spare before they were about to close @ 2pm for Sabbath.

I must say, it's one of the best $300 I've spent. Much, much more to come...
