Well here is one from a Polar (Samyang) 18-28mm zoom lens I got some 24 or so years ago while on a trip to South Korea. It cost all of $120 new at the duty free shop at Kimpo airport. I pulled it out to try on my K1. Ceiling of our sun room.

Thanks,
like I said, there are many precedents in that pic, but ok, let's say it's my 2nd attempt at the MW...
that one was the 1st attempt, with another lens (slow 15mm f/4 Ltd and K-3II) where there is lot's of light pollution near big cities...
I have to say that I did lot's of readings on the techniques (I did my homeworks after being disappointed by my 1st attempts.. and I think the Samyang 24mm f1.4 delivers much mor in that field... all the reading I did confirms this statement)
Adding to that the performance of the K-1... I think it is a winner combo for astrophotography!

This shot was taken from a single frame, during my first MW session on June 5th... Taken a bit earlier than my pano merge, we can see more part of the MW before it was hidden by the trees later that night... we can see more details in the MW.

Another Milky Way shot, bit this time with the Bower 14mm f2.8 and the K-1 with the Astro Tracer feature that uses a built-in GPS module and the stabilized sensor. It allow longer exposition (here 3 minutes), beyond the 500 rule, without having star trails, by following the earth rotation.

I'm gradually getting a little bit more comfortable with post-processing and Lightroom. This is a re-post of a photo I put up a couple weeks back. Bower 85mm 1.4

Well after leaving this club (goodbye 8mm FE and 85/1.4)..... I couldn't stay away for long!

These are all Samyang 14mm f2.8 on K-1 - Terrific lens - really gives the 15-30 a run for its money! If you are wondering about the 14mm, don't hesitate. Can't wait to try mine at night.

The sharpness is amazing - do click through for a better version (500px.com embeds are just not that sharp looking).

Last weekend, I went to take some pictures of the milky way, but soon after I arrived, the clouds appeared...
I tried to spend some time trying to shoot the numerous fireflies that were lightning around... not easy... I did a 4 minutes exposure... at F10 9because I could not have any focus confirmation because it was too dark, so I closed to get the greatest DoF, and I used ISO6400
but... not easy to catch what I was seeing... especially with a 14mm UWA on FF (Bower 14mm F2.8)

When zooming on the image in Lr, we can see numerous green spots...
I dont know what I can do to improve the catch of fireflies, maybe longer focal length would help...

Anyways, that gives you an idea...

I think with fireflies its basically a matter of the wider the better to minimize exposure times. If you don't feel put off by the idea, you could then just stack the images to create a faux-long exposure (much as you would star trails, etc where a compete circle of stars is actually made from dozens of shots).

Interesting... do we have an idea what the FL will be and if they intend to make them in P-K mounts?
