Use gaffer's tape - it leaves no residue and sticks really well.

Macro with Pentax-A 645 120mm f 4.0 macro

KIT: K-3 with Pentax-A 645 f 4.0 macro 1:1 with adapter to K-mount

Here is an excellent kit package for flower photographers looking for close-up or macro capabilities at an economical price. The lens can also be pressed into service portraiture or landscape use. Here are a few comments:

1. Manual focus is easy with all the Pentax focussing aids. I just use the focussing indicator light in the viewfinder. Focussing ring operates smoothly with a nice long, smooth throw.

2. Color rendering is Pentax excellent.

3. Lens is heavy, 28 ounces with adapter, and some folks may find it a handful. I used to cover weddings with two Mamiya RB67s around my neck, so a 28 ounce lens does not bother, although I do support the lens with my left hand to prevent undue stress on the K-1 or K-3 mounts.
Offsetting the weight as a negative is the excellent build quality of the 645-A series.

4. On the K-1 and K-3 there can be flare problems when the lens is pointed upward to include particularly any portion of the sky. The flare generally appears as a hazy, cloudy, irregularly shaped large spot in the central part of the image. No flare is noted when pointed downward or in
any position generally selected to photograph flowers, which is my main use for the lens. It is difficult to impossible to find a suitable lens to prevent flare, so I have often used my hat to shield the top of the lens, a procedure that works well altough it is awkward.

Sort of hard to follow Norm, but someone has to do it!

Shell, K-1, FA 100mm Macro. Tip of shell, crop, and actual pixel crop. K1, Pentax-A 135mm f2.8, Nikon Plan Acromat 10x.
Pixel shift focus stacks. Is at limit of what I can accomplish with manual macro rail. More detail could be had with an
automated system. First real test of the Plan Acromat.

Buy some gaffer's tape - super tack without the residue.

New setup for pseudo Macro

I just tried a new setup: Pentax-A 1:2.8 135 mm + auto extension tube + HD 1.4 AW...
It equals a 189 mm at F 4.0.
With first Test at F11 and 0.8sec.
