Real nice image and composition. Wish I had taken it. Unfortunately you just made my LBA kick in. I...must...resist...

Yes, you're stronger than LBA. You are.

Short MFD macro effect

Kit is 645D with the Pentax 67 75mm f 2.8 and its really short MFD (41 cm). Not exactly macro, but really good closeups for flowers.

Finally got around to trying something I'd had on my to-do list for a while. I reversed my 16-85 on my KP. Magnification available in reversed configuration is 1.5x at 85mm to 4.5x at 16mm.Here are uncropped shots of the millimeter scale on a ruler at each end.

85mm...

and 16mm:

Used in conjunction with a de-glassed Fotodiox PK-Nikon F adapter with aperture control, I can open or close the lens's diaphragm despite the lack of aperture ring. In real world, handheld, outdoor shooting it's really tricky to use at 4.5x. My keeper rate improved (somewhat) by turning to a longer focal length setting. I'll probably try it some more, but it's not as user friendly as my reversed 18-55 II.

Here are some shots of subjects more interesting than rulers.

Part of a braided cord on the zipper-pull of my camera bag:

One of those flowers that kinda looks like a daisy, but isn't one:

Thanks! I liked the ordered ranks of columns receding into the bokeh.

Wow, that's very impressive and inspired use of the 16-85! What kind of aperture settings are you using?

BTW, I think that daisy-looking flower might be fleabane. Fleabane, daisy, and aster are all in the family Asteraceae.

Thanks! Couldn't tell you what number. The ring on the adapter that lets me control the diaphragm indicates open and closed at either end of its throw. There are no click stops on the ring (or, obviously, the lens). I usually try to have it somewhere in the middle. I don't know what that numerical value would be, and have never bothered to try working it out. Could be f8-ish. As the 18-55 is lighter, more compact, and user friendly, I'm more likely to use it in this way than the 16-85.

OK, so if I understand well, you put the Fotodiox PK-Nikon F adapter with aperture control at the end (on the Pentax lens) just to control the aperture manually ?
So any "deglassed" PK-to-whatever_mount adapter with aperture control should do the trick isn't?

Yes, that's the case. It does eat up a bit of working distance, but it's an easier solution than jamming something against the lens's aperture control tab. An adapter with aperture control for mirrorless is going to use up more working distance, so going for an adapter intended for DSLR is going to be more convenient.
