That reverse flower shot is excellent Rob, as is the spider above.

Thanks very much - I don't find I can visualise macro shots at all: guilty of a bit of 'spray and pray'!

Wow. What a shot. I want to learn how to do macro but these and especially Nas' shots tell me I need to quit now.
All I can do is this.

Stunning! I must get a reversing ring and have a try with reversed lens on plain extension. Trying to decide if there's any reason for me to keep my DA 50-200 so today I used it as the primary with an M 50/1.7 reversed onto it. Here's a 100% crop, 50-200 zoomed to 200, for 4:1. It's an aster (weed) of some kind, Crownbeard I think. I was shooting handheld in the field and did not have a high success rate. :P

Here are some of my Russian watches. ME Super, 50 f/2, 49-52mm step up ring, Nikon 4t close up lens, Pentax AF200T flash off camera and bounced off a white foam board, Sekonic flash meter.

Here's my favourite Mcgyiver macro so far, taken with a Rikkenon 50mm f.2 mounted on a hollowed-out Makinon 135mm (about 83mm of extension).

Wow, this is really crazy!!! This is way over my head but I like it. Would like to know how you stack photos? Seeing the pictures above, paints a thousand words. You really do turn a lense around backwards and put it together. When you wrote that, it went over my head kind of like the algebra class I took. That is wild that you are taking pictures like that? Doesn't seem legal.

Thanks for the illustration.

So I'm checking out the web last night and find a site about shooting marco lens. OK I got them but never really use them at all. So today I run out for gas then come back and grab my camera gear to hit the railroad tracks and woods not far from my house. do a little shooting in the woods then I start heading back to the car and this bird fly's over my head with it's dinner in it's claws and lands in a tree. The only lens I have with me is a Fa Marco 100, oh well this is the best I could do.

Have read through this whole thread and am very excited about getting into macro photos. Recent newcomer to photography and only have a a few lenses but looking to get extension tubes and reversing ring for them. Will hopefully be posting things in the near future.
