Same setup as with the 80mm Componon, just with a 50mm one this time.

k-1 comparison of:

dfa 50mm on 67mm extension tubes (closest focus causes vingetting on full frame) at f10

raynox dcr-250 on da*300mm at f32 (ni vignetting even with 77-52 step down ring)

Old movie camera lens meets digital

These shots were taken with an old 8mm movie camera lens, reversed and mounted in a screw mount body cap. I've had this lens for a number of years, but never used it much. My previous camera, a Canon 20D (no live view, consequently no focus peaking), just wasn't the right vehicle for this optic. My K-S2, however makes this lens lots of fun to use. Working distance is minimal, but the narrow width of the lens lets me use the built-in flash as I don't start shadowing my subject until I add a lot of extension. I might not get the shy-er critters that don't tolerate close proximity of pesky photographers, but I have no trouble finding lots to shoot.

...and here's the lens.

I've got two of these (got a second accidentally, not knowing it was the same as what I already had. )

My first Pixel Shifted image... Silkypix is a royal pain. Not a lot of difference from the control image, but what is different is better, richer with more detail.

K-1SIgma 70 ,Macro.
100 ISO. ƒ11, 1/6s
Approx. 1:2.

If the wind dies down enough, I always try to take a couple PS images. My experience mirrors yours, both with your results, and Silkypix!

From my experience, even if the PS image is not perfect, at normal viewing and printing it is often better than the non PS image.

I don't know how the translations are for other languages. For me, if the developers of SPix would enable better English translations for some of their features, and pop up descriptions when you hover over their icons in PDU5 and SPix, it would make things much easier. While the program is probably intuitive for the Japanese market, I work harder to get the results I want out of it. Sometimes it's just easier to export a tiff and continue from there with LR, CS6 or Fasstone.
