This has to be one of the nicest threads on the forum showing some really great invention with just one focal length (ok two if you count 55mm as being sufficiently different).

Strangely I never found much use for 50mm lenses on film but the extra 25mm or so focal length on APS-C makes all the difference and it's now a favourite. Doing a quick tally it seems I have collected 15 of them since my first SLR in 1962.

Around page 39 out of curiosity I started noting down the different lenses used and if I haven't missed any up to the end of page 67, 52 different 50/55mm lenses have appeared.

Just wondering is 58mm permitted or is that stretching 50mm too far.

I'd say 58mm is fine, there are a few film standard primes that long.

One from tonight with the K50/1.2 at around mid aperture: fog rolling over Twin Peaks and into the Mission, taken from Potrero Hill Community Garden. Graduated ND treatment in PP.

SMC Tak 55/1.8 at f/1.8 (because I forgot when using a Tak on a DSLR, putting the lens in auto position results in wide-open shots!)

Here's another test shot using the Yashinon DS-M 50mm f/1.4 wide open on my Fujifilm X-M1. I'm starting to really wish it were possible to stop this lens down for better use on digital - wide open it's probably the best 50/1.4 I've ever tried. I've just finished the test roll of Acros in the Yashica Electro AX, which I shot almost entirely with this lens, so once I get that developed and scanned I'll have a better idea of what this lens can do on it's intended format.

Please explain why you cannot stop down the Yashinon 50/1.4 for use on digital? Is the aperture ring stuck or what?
