Quite some time ago, I picked up a bunch of lenses and cameras at a garage sale. It was old unclaimed stuff from the lost and found at a local campground. One of the lenses was a JC Penny 28/2.8. It fall foliage season and I threw it in my bag last week and I have been using it occasionally. This was from earlier today in Raquette Lake, NY.
Now that's a great one. Well done!

Ah, interesting. Most reviews seems to say the old version is inferior, and that's the one I think I have. I don't mind, I got a nice square Pentax knock-off hood for it, too

I have a Takumar Bayonet 28/2.8, which is supposedly very budget, lacking coatings, and really inferior

... though lately I see examples on eBay for almost $200, which is weird...

I have read that it's much like the early M, except for the M's coatings - and I love it. Maybe it needs a bit of a saturation, contrast, and warmth boost in post (not always) but that's easy - and might be improved by the hood I bought recently anyway.

Always look at completed/sold listings... there's people asking for an arm and a leg on Ebay, and they must have free listing from Ebay, because that's just idiot-bait. Nobody pays those prices.

I certainly didn't.

I'm not sure it isn't the same lens/seller over and over. Playing on the "Takumar" name, I reckon

Taken with NEX-6 and M28/3.5 at ISO 3200. This one cleaned up fairly well... the others... not so much.
That's a very nice composition!

You shouldn't make such excellent images with that lens; people might get the idea that it doesn't deserve its mediocre reputation.

Thanks I can compare it to the Tamron 17-50 that i like but it's 3 times bigger. I think the Tamron is better at larger aperture, but stopped down like this at f/8 they both perform very good.

Sears 28mm macro.

This is a lens often overlooked by many. It's a very capable lens, although it's becoming quite difficult to find.
