I found a K 28mm f/2 on eekBay for a not totally unreasonable price. I have an S-M-C Takumar 28mm f/3.5 I'm happy with. Time will tell if I got a good deal or not. I'll start posting some images here soon

I assume this would cover FF? Would you have a link?

Wow, yasik! You're getting some very nice images from your SMC 28mm lens! Very nice color rendition. Very vibrant, indeed.

Would you mind posting a pic of the lens sometime when you get a chance? I am now wondering who made that lens. If it's the same as some online pictures that I saw, it's a Cimko. It looks exactly the same as the Cimko 24 2.8 except that it doesn't have the diamond in the red line. As for the 28 - I've seen a report that it's very sharp and contrasty, and another thought it was junk. So there's probably quite a bit of sample variation!
Anyway, if it says Japan it's probably Cimko, but if it says Korea it's Samyang.

Sorry about being so tardy in posting photos of the Sears 28mm macro lens. Yep, I've been told that all Sears lenses made in Korea were of Samyang manufacture.... and as you can see, mine is indeed Korean. As far as being sharp and contrasty.... or junk, all I can go by is my particular lens. I'm happy with it.

Here they are.

Not sure the square hood is big enough for 28mm on FF. It is labelled as LH-SA49 and made by JJC (as a "PA-SA49 replacement"). It can be found online for $10-$20. I got mine from the German Amazon, not sure which shop. Its a clip-on hood, so it has its limitations, but I like it on the DA lenses that don't have bayonet for hood. It works okay on 28mm and 35mm on K-01, but I am not sure it is perfectly effective, but its better than no hood. I think Pentax used to make this hood for 35mm lenses back in the film days. Edit: Here is a link to the official page: http://www.jjc.cc/products_info.asp?id=682&cid=0&s_series=all

JJC also makes a DA 40mm hood knockoff, I think. They make a lot of hoods, for a much lower price than a genuine one.

Thanks, I actually have a PH-SA49, which I sometimes use on my FA 28, FA 35 and FA 50mm. It does not cover 28mm on FF.

I thought you meant the original hood for the FA 28, PH-SB49.

Nice sharp image Paul. I can't imagine why anyone would be disappointed with a 28 f/2.8.

A couple from my new to me K 28mm f/2. I'll need to do some more shooting with it when the weather improves.

I find #1 especially intriguing. Very good eye. You've captured a very interesting image. Most definitely a "keeper."

Thanks Paulh.
Ah! That is rather funny Paulh! I'm pretty sure that 28mm that you are referring too was the first 28mm that I really clicked with. I always thought it had quite a nice rendering.
For old time sake, I manage to find some old pictures that I took with your lens (how cool is that haha) - I'm really happy you still like it.
