Hi gang. I am thinking of buying a Tokina AT-X 24-70mm F2.8. Not the Pro version the earlier one. It has a better overall rating on the lens reviews versus the Pro model. There is another version that is not a 2.8 that is also rated. Does anyone own the non pro version and can give me their comments on it's pros and cons and their recommendation on it's purchase.

P. S. I recently purchased the Tokina AT-X 400 and just love it.

Thanks for reading my post.

Hi! Sorry, I don't really know if this is for pentax mount. I for one have no experience on other mounts than pentax..

Are you saying you have one for sale but you are not sure if it is Pentax mount? What camera does it fit on?

Sorry..yes, and no. I'm not familiar wit 24-70 zoom for pentax. I have had 28-70/2.8, which I no longer have. But 24-70 for pentax K-mount I do not know of. Can you give information of this lens on K-mount?

My apologies. It is a Tokina AT-X 28-70mm F2.8 non pro lens that I am looking to purchase and request information on. Is that the one you had Repaap or did you have the pro version? I think the lens I am looking for is over 12 years old.

Yes, I had 270 pro II. I'd actually want to try it on FF again. There was some distortion at 28 even on crop and softnes @70 wide open completelly gone by F4. Best performance was from f3,5-8. My copy was actually 28-70/2.6-2.8. I needed some cash so that is why I sold it...I looked some shots taken with that lens and most of it is good.

I double checked my lens and it is an AT-X Pro 28-70mm F2.6. That 2.6 is on the barrel but I think it is really a F2.8. Heavy /built like a tank but in mint condition. So that would be 42-105mm on a cropped sensor camera like the K3. Could be a good walkaround lens but for its weight. Repaap do you think you think it produced good images? I am a fan of the AT-X Pro Tokina lenses. Heavy but excellent built quality and great glass. Great lenses at a reasonable price.

Hi, yes. I think that it is quite good for it's prize and colors are nice too. It is big! And it needs a proper hood.

Here is my flickr album for 270II
Single in June | Flickr
I did shoot one month with it every day. Single in..take a look. There are for example Sigma 24-60 or 24-70 and Tamron 28-75 which are more modern, but this lens is sturdy, big and seems to work well too. I'm thinking of rebuying this one or 28-80/2.8, or then I'll get that Sigma...but before that I need to have some money...

It is second version of 28-70/2,6-2,8.

Third version is 28-70/2,8 SW, which is more light and some say it is not as high quality...
That is 28-70/2,6-2,8 is called as 270 pro. Ans second one 270 pro II, third 270 SW that much I can tell original version is most valued of these 3.

---------- Post added 09-26-16 at 16:03 ----------

And there is 20-35/2.8 PRO (235), and 28-80/2.8(280 PRO) there are also Tokina lenses with variable Aperture which are not marked as PRO.
