Preset Lens Club

I'd like to start a Preset Lens Club. Preset lenses have a unique way of rendering images, many times exhibiting a very 3D feel to the image. Maybe this has to do with having an unusually large number of aperture blades, or maybe it has to do with having the aperture location at the front of the lens, as many presets do, rather than at the back of the lens.

Whatever it is, these Preset lenses are something special. I'd like this thread to discuss the different Preset lenses and show both photos of the lenses themselves, and the images they can produce.

So, show us your Presets!

Well here are my Presets so far, the Tele Tak 200 F5.6, Tak 200 F3.5 and Tele Tak 300 F6.3,

I just received the two tele taks so I don't have any example shots with them yet. Here are some examples using the Takumar 200 F3.5 Preset

All of these were wide open

Here's something a little exotic, a Komura 135/2.3 preset.

Awesome, I might need to look into one of those! I've been looking at the Auto Takumar 135mm F3.5 Preset, but that one doesn't have as many aperture blades as your's does. Great photos too. I really need to start shooting some street shots (I'm kind of adverse to cities though).

I'm packing up for a weekend snow camp in the mountains with my sister and her family. My presets are definitely going along! I'll post back here tomorrow night with some example shots using the Tele-Takumar 200mm F5.6 Preset and Tele-Takumar 300mm F6.3 Preset. Hopefully I'll get some wildlife shots, although that might be hard with the little kids around, won't be able to get as close as usual.

This is a great idea CJ. Excellent shots guys.

Sorry I have no images other then a few test shots out the window which I'll spare you from veiwing. Hey, it's been about -30ish C without wind chill.

This evening I acquired a Tele Tak 200mm f/5.6 to keep the 200mm f/3 company

A couple of pre-set lenses in this household - here is an image from the Isco Gottingen Westanar 1:4.5, 150mm, 16 bladed sample.

Thanks Arjay, another lens to look into. I think these Presets are going to end up costing me a lot of money!

Well, here are a few examples using the Tele-Takumar 300mm F6.3 Preset. These are nothing at all spectacular. I didn't get any wildlife photos yesturday since it was snowing/blizzard in the high country while out camping (made for an interesting night ).

These were just shot today out at a local park. Winds were extremely strong, so no birds were roosting, mostly flying around. All were shot wide open and weren't cropped.

So far, with very little use, I can see that I'm going to like this lens a lot! Colors are outstanding and the sharpness seems to be nearly up with my favorite lens, the Takumar 200mm F3.5 Preset. Hopefully next weekend's weather will cooperate and I'll get some close in wildlife photography with this lens.

Andrew you are to modest, these are great images, you make that lens sing.
1 - tack sharp
2 - spectacular
3 - some fringing on the geese necks
4 - cool and spectacular, love the expression.

I scored a preset 135mm /f3.5 (black and silver)
