Love your processing on these zombie walk shots.

Actually in general I really like your processing you do on your street photography.

Just about to go pick up a DA 35mm.
Price is average. Could have got it cheaper online, but would have been stung with postage to Oz.

Can't wait to post some photos here.

bought mine online from Pentax Aus. C.R. Kennedy for $204 delivered.

some yellow Kangaroo Paw just starting to open. this one is at f2.4, and the red Poinciana at f5.6, light is a bit harsh really but i was out mid-morning, might have to return at another time with different light. I am just starting to experiment with it, so far so good for a $204 lens. Not in the FA Limited league, but I'm sure it's not the worst either.

Ordered.. Thanks. Was on my way to purchase an 'as new' 35mm. Turns out Pentax/CR is only $4 more shipped than I was going to pay.

They really are doing the right thing at the moment. I bought an FA31 the other week and it was cheaper through them than I could find in eBay.

I just got mine today for $200 including postage. Bought it from "dcxpert" on eBay - turns out he's just a reseller for CRK as my lens was posted directly from their warehouse; CRK box and invoice included. Real good stuff and he has a bunch of other stuff for Pentax as well.

So ... after this thread I am quite impressed !!!

I was looking for a lens to accompany my K5II in most cases, out on the street, at a party etc ... as I can't afford anything more expensive I am thinking about getting this one.
I guess the 35mil is quite close to the standard 50mm I am used to while shooting film(actually it's a couple more, but u get it !).

So from your experience so far, is this lens ok for sth like that ? To basically have it all the time on ? I mean, I love my Tamron 17-50 but the weight ....

i think it would be great for that 50mm like general view in the street, do you use your Tamron in the mid focal length much? if so maybe also a 21mm would be handy for street scene, i hope the 21 is my next lens.

i plan to get a lens hood for mine, Pentax PH-SA49 or equivalent Hood http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lens-Hood-for-Pentax-PH-SA49-DX-35mm-F2-4-AL-50mm-F1-4-/290591581832?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a89ba688
cut down on stray light, but also act as some protection, (especially for parties), the front lens element seems quite close to the filter thread as such.

Hello MacGreg, Welcome to the forum!
I use the Plastic Fantastic for street-shooting all the time, it's small, light and unobtrusive. Fine rendering, sharpness and (to me, anyway) a great focal length for both closeups and normal field-of-view photos. Much like the 50mm from my film days. Also, I find the AF very fast and accurate, useful for 'quick' one-chance shots.
It does benefit from a lens hood, mine is a generic "Wide Angle" 49mm metal hood off eBay.
Here's some recent street examples.
Ron
