I started with my ist ds solely in manual and moved to my K7 in manual. I have only recently started using the AF and found that although it is nice, the whole picking a point and all that takes too long. My A50/ 1.7 does great and my M42 Chinon 55/1.7 is my other bokeh lens. It is sharp and takes great photos.
I usually just use the center point and re-compose, much quicker than selecting a point and sometimes faster than manual focusing.

When I'm not focusing manually, I do the same thing! I agree, much quicker.\

Nice shot of the berries, Christian rock. The shot has a nice softness and very pleasant color. Freddy
Thank you Freddy. As I always leave the camera in .jpg for my wife now (with the DA 35 2.4), I might have more SOOC pics to show, since sometimes I just want to grab the camera and shoot

Amazing bokeh on the drinks shot, Kcupp. Nice choice of shots showing off the versatility of that really fine lens. I know you're LOVIN' it. I'm happy for you. Freddy

Cheers!! Got some fantastic shots of my friend and I at the beach as well.

Just out of interest how do people find it when using it inside for individual and group shots at parties/bars?

Hello Kcupp95,
I use my plastic fantastic for indoor and low-light photos all the time, I find it very versatile. It's surprisingly sharp wide-open and from there to about f/4.0 the bokeh is fairly soft and smooth. After (about) f/5.6 it gets somewhat nervous or less soft, but not jagged or too distracting unless stopped way down.
Bokeh is very subjective and also depends greatly on the various focal distances involved.
With an f/2.8 24mm and fast fifty (the other plastic fantastic is great!) you have a fine walk-around kit that's sharper and faster than most zooms. Some would choose a wider and longer range, it's all choices and Pentax users have many open to them.
JMO,
Ron

kcupp, the 35 has a pretty adequate wide angle for party rooms and bars, restaurants, etc. I took some amazing shots using no flash of a group of 18 people. Every one was in perfect focus, colorful and detailed. Great brightness.
In a word, it's great indoors and on the camera you can move around the room comfortably with the small footprint of the camera/lens combo. Freddy

I find it great for 2 reasons:
- It's very sharp at f/2.4, sharpest lens I have wide open.
- It reproduces colors very well under artificial lights.

My pictures always seem to turn out very good, almost like I knew what I was doing...

Enjoy

I couldn't have said it better, Christian Rock. Sharp, colorful and dependable results. Freddy

WOW, perfect and adorable shot, Bunch. I can't stop sounding like a commercial, but when something outstanding comes our way we gotta love it. Warm regards, Freddy

Nice frosty shot. Makes me want to reach for a cold one as I'm feeling the hot sun coming thru my window at this very moment. Ffeddy
