brilliant pictures and cute baby. really sharp wide open too. did you adjust sharpness a little in PP? or maybe raised the clarity slider a bit? im really surprised with the sharpness at 2.4 and how the images pop. PP or not, well done!!

Matt, brilliant pictures indeed. I can attest that the DA 35 2.4 is that sharp wide open It gets a bit contrastier by 2.8 and even a tad sharper, but it's already very sharp at 2.4. I love it to bits

Manacho, those shots are amazing. Truly professional quality. Proving again, that the 35 plastic is a great portrait lens and the perfect walk-around lens. If I lost mine I think I would slit my wrists, but that wouldn't really be necessary, would it. Because I can buy a brand new one for comfortably under $200.!! We're so lucky. Freddy

Thanks guys, I truly love this lens.
Yes, Schnitzer, I adjusted both clarity and sharpness in Lightroom; but not by much. I was impressed when chimping on my LCD.... After a little PP, this thing is a poor man FA31!

Very cool!

Is the light from a flash gun or from a window?

Hey guys I got this lens a week ago and it's working great! I was just wondering, do you guys use a lens hood with it, and would you recommend getting one?

I use the lens hood from my Super Takumar f3.5 35mm. It is a great little hood that screws onto the filter thread. But you could pick up a rubber hood from a camera shop.

Late afternoon light from windows to his front and back right.

I only put one on mine to protect the front element. You have to put your light source in the frame to get flare or lose contrast with this little gem.

Yeah that black and white one is a different picture but it's also the DA 35 2.4. But I didn't post it here because I submitted it to our Monthly photo contest

metal lens hood fror DA35mm plastic fantastic. No problem. Order from Amazon: Rainbow imaging MM49 $7.99. for the 49mm hood. Then I screwed onto the OUTSIDE of the lens hood a Hoya 58mm UV lens filter. Just, really to give it extra protection for the lens.
Both of those fit like a glove. I never take it off. Any of my DA35 shots taken and shown here were using that combo. Freddy P.S. Once in a while I clean off the UV filter with a good quality lens cloth. Freddy
P.S. Sure it adds about an inch to the lens but worth it to me for the protection.
