Nope, here's one from a recent outing, when I was traveling very light, just the DA 40 XS on a K-x.
JPEG straight out of the camera, only resized for the web.

By habit I shoot almost exclusively between f/5.6 and f/11. DA40XS on a K-01 is actually jacket-pocketable and quite good enough at f/5.6 to do just about anything I do. I'm not very good at tagging and organizing so I'll need to come back with image links - but for the $90 this lens cost me on NewEgg a couple months ago . . . . . .

When I got the K-01 I ordered it with the DA40 Limited. I use that combination for manual focus when shooting video. Those two cases are how I use my K-01 now and the 40XS is the default mounted lens.

And I think that is one of the main strengths of the 40mm XS with its rounded blades. Bokeh might look busy wide open, but it looks smooth yet detailed when stopped down. Of course, I guess this is subjective

I remember being quite fond of this little guy and I'm still astounded by the quality that came from what is essentially a kit lens. Here are a few of my early shots with it before I got hooked on the FA Limiteds.

40XS rocks!

Pentax 40 XS it is my preferable people lens. Maybe results are not better compared to the Samyang 85/1.4, but I get much more keepers. It is also good as landscape lens, good for stitching panoramas and also surprisingly good for close-ups.

The last one on a extension tube (de-glassed TC with A contacts). Unfortunately it is not the best combo when it comes to handling – sometimes big exposure failures can occur.

Good photos, never heard of the 40mm XS used on extension tubes. Looks like it works well, though!

Da 40 XS works well on the tube, because it is small and no doubt produces good quality photos on "macro" apertures, so closed little bit more down.

I just found out about this thread. I love this lens. It's generally the lens on my camera for "grab and go" opportunities, it tends to stay on my camera for weeks at a time. Sharp, and tremendously versatile, IMO, the compact size makes it so convenient to carry without one hand free, and it's unobtrusive, so people don't react to it like they do when a more noticeable camera is in view.

I got the 40xs with the k-01, and had no other lens for a year or so (I have no other digital camera either). I've been playing with wider lenses, and am in love with the 24mm fov on aps-c. But the 40 is my go to portrait lens.

I love this lens, on the K-5 I was stll able to put it on a cargo pocket in my pants. I just wish it was Weather Resistant, I might never take it off. The 40 is my go-to lens, especially for travelling.
