Another little DA 40XS tip: I carry mine around in a neoprene filter case. (Available on $bay or from Op/Tech) Fittingly small case for a beautifully small lens! I can either clip it on or put in my pocket or bag.
Me Likey! I leave it on the spare (functionally free) K-01 with the loose mode dial since the rear cap is 3X the depth of the lens

Mine fits in a little cushioned space on my camera bag. After three months on my daughter's camera, it was nice to get it back and take it out on a walk around the town.

I bought this lens primarily to use on my K-01. Someday I am going to have to try it on another body. I took a day drive last month and just took the K-01 with the DA 40xs and the DA 21 Limited. I will admit that the DA 21 gets more use but that is because prefer the FOV of the 21.

All were on the K-01.

40 XS is one of mine favourite walkaround lenses - good also for people and animals portraits.

I like mine alright lol. All on the K3...I'm probably going to sell it with the K-01 though and pick up the ltd....or another XS in the future.

I own the both Da 40mm LTD and the DA 40mm XS, and I really can't see enough difference between the two. The 40mm XS often wins out because of all the reasons listed above.

I think they are identical optically, the SMC LTD has quick shift and a hood, the HD version has rounded aperture blades in addition to those things. The XS is small, has rounded blades, but is lacking the quick shift and hood, but its cheaper. It all depends on what you want I reckon. I just really like the build quality of the limited primes...lol.

Very nice, but not made to resist a 3 foot drop, hopefully a repair is possible.

It's a habit I need to break myself from as well. I see you're in Greensboro, have you ever gone up to Danville, VA? I passed through there last year and I want to go back and explore both the city and the river valley there.

I've been there a few times, they have a really nice greenway on the river.
