Here is a shot of DA 40mm XS's bokeh at f3.2.

Here is one with smoother bokeh - different focusing distance, background distance, and background light conditions

Wow the edges are pretty decent on full frame with the little xs. Impressive. Seems like a great combo.

Taken today with my beloved pancake, I don't know why I've been neglecting this great performer lately.

One of the Nikon guys asked me if it was a body cap. I'm not sure he believed me when I told him it was a pancake 40. He gave me the "Quit messing with me." look.

Asked about this lens at a certain major store in NYC a couple days ago. Got to play with a 40 Ltd instead. Guy behind the counter was really surprised to see the XS show up on the screen. Impressed again when I told him how it covered full frame. Kind of tired of having to brag up Pentax to people that work there that don't know what the company offers.

The DA 40mm XS was the first prime I bought for my K-5, and I loved it from the start and still do today. I've used it as a walk around lens in several cities and other locations and and I am never disappointed by it, of course, it's so small that it's no bother to keep in my camera bag as the reliable back up at near nromal FOV to whatever long or wide lens I've using. I was very pleased with how it performed on the K-1 I rented as well. It really is a fantastic lens for so many occasions

It's an addictive lens. It never makes you sorry you put it on the camera, and its always with me because it's so small. The first images I took this day were taken with the 60-250. I quickly traded it for the 40mm. Then started looking for 40mm images, because I really didn't want to take it off.

It seems perfect for full frame because it's just a touch wider than 43mm. It'd be about like a 27mm or so on crop. I'd love a crazy thin 27mm f2.8 prime that performs like this thing for my K-5! I've already got the 35mm f2.4 and an M 50 1.4 so I can't quite justify having one of these currently.

the DA 21mm only goes to f3.2, but I'm very pleased with its results on the K-5. [IMG][/IMG]
