I think this has to do with the fact this pancake is derived from Tessar design. Tessars are known for relatively slow aperture, but they have a different type of bokeh than Planar-designs, and they render images in a.. very natural, lifelike way. It has to do with contrasts, even sharpness throughout the image and OoF rendering. Tessar is more compact and usually has fewer elements
