Ouch

In some cases, it's simply cost - people cut their cloth according to their means.

In others, people get what they need and want from other lenses. They like the way they render, and that rendering may involve all the imperfections inherent in older designs which - for some - can add to an image.

"Better" is always a subjective assessment, and that certainly applies to lenses. I've had some of my favourite results from low-cost, beaten-up, low-end Soviet lenses.

I've absolutely no doubt that modern Zeiss lenses are fantastic, but they're just not what everyone wants, needs, or can afford... We're all different, right?

Damned, all these guys using some tools for putting a K/M42 conversion mount on their Pentax DSLR...😱

This is a thread about shooting with Zeiss lenses on Pentax cameras. How about we park this discussion and get back to photography?

An eminently sensible and sunny southern hemisphere suggestion

Brought to you all with warmth and good cheer in the endless sunshine that is Australia and New Zealand at this time of year...

Great to see an 18mm pop up, you don't see too many images with that lens. Ta for posting.

This is the K-1 and the Distagon 21/2.8.

Great to see another 21 around here, you captured the light well here with plenty of detail in the shade. The K-1 and the Distagon 21 work really well together in my experience, I hope you're finding the same and can post some more images to share with us.

I enjoy Carl Zeiss Macro-Planar 50mm f2

Dear All, Happy New Year!

The last summer I bought from Dave (Fenwoodian) Calr Zeiss Macro-Planar 50 mm and I enjoy it very much. If someone is untested you can see the photos on my Flickr. All those indicated with 50 mm without indication of [f] is a Carl Zeiss Macro-Planar 50. For example:

00023301 | Joseph Dubrovsky | Flickr
00023241 | Joseph Dubrovsky | Flickr
00023179 | Joseph Dubrovsky | Flickr

All are taken with K-3. I am not a professional photographer and I will appreciate any opinion.

Thank you.
Joseph.

G'Day Joseph,

Glad that you've joined the thread and enjoying the 2/50. It's a great lens and you've got some great examples of what it can do. If you would like to share with us here use the BB code under the share button on Flickr to post an example of your images in the thread. It acts as a link to your Flickr post so people can view them there but also lets people see what you've captured within your PF post.

Here's an example of the 2/50 on the K-1 as posted to Flickr.

FYI, it's one of my favourite lenses so I look forward to you sharing more with us here.
