Hello all, this is not strictly ZK news (but rather ZS news). Fujiya in Japan (a shop in Nakano, Tokyo) is apparently selling off some of their stock. They are currently selling new Zeiss distagon 25/2.8 in ZS mount (M42) including a K&F mount converter of your choice for just under 50000 yen, or 463USD or 416 Euro (today they were out of converters though, but I took that as an excuse to buy the pentax genuine converter instead). As far as I can tell, that is far under even used prices. They won't sell internationally, so if you are not in Japan, you'd have to use one of these intermediate companies to order and ship for you. Maybe it is still worth it? In any case, I'm quite excited to be joining the pentax-zeiss owner club!
Mate, that is a good price, even when you add the adaptor cost and a great find. Glad to see someone else giving the Zeiss lenses a go, hope to see you posting here soon.

Oh, a number of images in this thread are captured by Leica adapted ZF/ZF2 lenses so the focus on ZK is where we started but as this seems to be the only Zeiss dedicated thread there's a logic to having other mount options (captured on a Pentax camera) here too.

Some lovely captures there. I've not thought to use my 85 to captures flowers but the colours and details are lovely.

How have you found the 85? I find the focus ring on mine is tighter than my other Zeiss lens. Not a complaint, just noticeable. I really like to use this lens for night images and have found it a good telephoto lens for landscapes too. Handy really as I don't shoot portraits.

How do you plan on using your 85? Any preferences?

Tas

thank you

I have not had much time with the 85 yet - I did notice the focus ring to be truly stiff, however...

I haven't decided on what I'll be up to with her yet, but close-focusing is not this lens' forte....

The CZJ Pancolar 80mm f/1.8 is supposed to be quite excellent too. Perhaps your MIJ Planar was channeling its German cousin? Several years ago, I passed on a Pancolar 80mm and have regretted it ever since.

That's interesting as none of my other Zeiss lenses have a focus ring as stiff as my 85 but as it was the only one out of seven Zeiss lenses I assumed it was just mine. Well mine's never faulted so I've no complaints and I hope you find the same with yours.

Have to agree with the close-focusing thing, not what this lens does well. I think of the images I've captured with the 85 this is my favourite.

It's not the best image but I lived here and always marveled at the massive ships transiting the Hunter River and needed the right lens to convey that sense and the 85 compressed the distances magnificently.

I look forward to seeing what you create.
