Sounds right to me: I am still always struggling to focus this lens at f1.4.

That seems to be a sweet spot at 3.2.
It can be really nice at 1.4, but it's a matter of good eye.

Part of the reason could be that DSLRs have a relatively small viewfinder, because it is expected that AF will be used and viewfinder is only for general composition. Secondly, the DSLRs have a focusing screen made mostly for zoom lenses. Often these screens are not accurate for lenses faster than f2.8. A lot of Pentaxians replace the stock screen with KatzEye, Focusing screens com or JinFinance focusing screen if they are planning on using fast manual lenses. While these screens might not be perfect for slow lenses, they are better for fast lenses.

Kudos on the thread

Nice work with establishing the Zeiss ZK club Tom, it's great to see it growing steadily with the images captured and experiences forum members have with using the ZK lenses.

Some good news for those interested in a great lens, a US seller is currently advertising the Makro Planar T* 2/50 ZK here: Makro Planar Zeiss T 50mm F 2 ZK Manual Focus Macro Lens FOR K Mount Cameras | eBay

I have no experience with this seller, but can testify to the quality of this lens so just wanted to give forum members a heads up.

Hooroo,

Tas
