So some quick questions to the group:
  • Does the Leitax adapter work with *any* Zeiss Nikon-mount ZF lens? (e.g. ZF.1?)
  • I am assuming that Zeiss Canon-mounted ZF lenses are not convertible to Pentax via Leitax -- correct?
  • And what are the differences between ZF.1 vs. ZF.2?

Thanks!
M
Micheal, I got Piccure+ based upon your recommendation in this forum about one month ago. Now it's my preferred method of sharpening, thanks so much for the recommendation!!

1. Leitax adapter's work on both varieties of the so called "Classic" line of Zeiss lenses (both .1 and .2).
2. It is currently not possible to convert a Canon mount lens to Pentax K with a Leitax adapter.
3. Moot point, both operate exactly the same on a Pentax camera after the lens has been Leitaxed (the .2 electrical connections are "removed" as a part of the Leitax adapting process)

I have to say, piccure+ is a most unusual tool. It really makes a difference, especially with older lens designs. Even helps a bit with minor camera movement too. Now I just need a 12-processor i7 desktop to handle the load!!

I was doing some post processing tonight on Zeiss images I've taken lately on my K1 camera. What I just realized, is that with Zeiss image files, there's very little required post processing. The Zeiss lens just does such a good job with color, contrast, bokeh, etc, that very little post is required.

This of course saves time, but more importantly it results in better images. For we all know that anything you do in post degrades the pixels (less so in RAW of course) and therefore the less you fool with an image in post, the better that image will look.

I know! So little required! Mind blowing!

I've been using the product for more than a year now on images produced using Nikon Coolpix A, Nikon D7000, Nikon D800, Pentax K-3, Pentax K-3ii, and Apple iPhone. I won't be able to write a formal review for you, but I am happy to answer any questions.

Hard for me to give a review (I'm not that accomplished), however I can give you some thoughts/impressions......

As a back drop, my iMac is so old and slow, that I only run special shots through it.... a K-1 tiff takes 5-10 minutes on my machine....(similar time frame to DXO 10 prime noise reduction) Anyway, after passing 3 or 4 of my best "can never get it again shots" but maybe slightly compromised photos through it, I payed my $120 (and I'm a bit cheap!) As a rule, I use it on all shots I intend to print or when the shot is special for some reason.....it has a free 1 month trial.... so no real barrier to you trying it for your self.

Sample shot before

Before

After

Ideally, one is meant to use it as one of the first steps in your processing...... before sharpening, noise reduction and cropping etc.... the image above was run through it after all that was done.....so not optimal.
