Originally posted by RobA_Oz Nice work with the 21, Tas. The only problem I have with your posts is that they remind me that I hesitated with one of those at $800USD (new), when the AUD was at a high, and "he who hesitates..."
The vignetting was a bit of a surprise, but it works with the dog sculpture. Good stuff.
Wow, you had a chance to pick up the 21/2.8 ZK for $800? I can understand your frustration though, I had my gear stolen in 2012 including a Zeiss Makro Planar 2/100 ZK and I thought that was it, I'll never get that lens again but then I found it at a store in Germany and they had the 21 as well. A couple of days later somebody on the forums was talking about picking it up and just missing out on the 2/100. Karma I guess, hopefully he tracked down the 2/100, it took four years and a bit of luck for me to finally get one.
An FYI; some of the vignette was added to by me in post. The dark corner in the top left is vignette from the lens made worse by me as it's a square crop and I forgot to use the 1:1 crop mode. This meant the lens vignette is particularly noticeable in one corner and missing from the other. I really like how the 21 vignettes, it seems to enhance many subjects when you compose correctly. Indeed, most if not all my Zeiss lenses vignette at wide apertures, it might be why they are love or loathe lenses for a lot of people. Oh, and it's a roo not a dog.
Here's the K-1 with the Makro Planar 2/100...and that damn moon again.
