Great shot. Such an incredible lens. I can hardly believe there are still a few of these floating around that haven't been sold yet.

If you're a 28 guy then you can't have too many 28's. Logical.

Also, you must now provide pics.

Allez!

"Dear Christophe XXXXX,

many thank for your order. We ask for your excuse because of a mistake
of system. By the sales of the last objective the system has not
corrected the continuance and, therefore, one remained as available.
Why this was happen our IT-specialist is working. We ask Zeiss whether
they get another but this is sold out. So we have the problem we
cannot ship to you. Naturally we refund your money to your account.
I ask again in all form for your excuse.

With friendly greetings

I completed the Leitax conversion of my Zeiss ZF 35mm f/1.4 from Nikon to Pentax K mount.

The lens mount is attached with what Leitax calls "long screws". The following Zeiss lenses also have these long screws: 25/2, 35/2, 100/2 and 135/2.

I have already converted the 35/2 and 100/2 Zeiss lenses. While they do require the special long screws, their aperture ring is still "one piece". So, the Leitax conversion on the 35/2 and 100/2 are fairly straight forward and very similar to doing a Zeiss Leitax conversion on a lens that uses the "short" lens mount screws.

Having converted a number of Zeiss ZF lenses already, I was surprised at what I found when converting the Zeiss ZF 35/1.4 lens. This is the only Zeiss ZF lens that I have worked on that has what I would describe as a "TWO PART" aperture ring. When I removed the "outer" aperture ring, the inner aperture ring just sort of came along for the ride. After this "inner" aperture ring came off, a couple of other parts came tumbling out too! For a second I was not sure that I was going to be able to put it all back together again properly. Lucky for me, after a bit of trial and error, I was able to properly replace both of the aperture rings and the other assorted parts that came out with them.

So, my advice to you would be Zeiss ZF 35/1.4 converters, "be very careful when removing the aperture ring. Make sure that you only remove the outer ring and leave the inner ring in place thoughout the entire conversion process (there is no need for it to be removed). You may need a small knife to wedge between the two aperture rings (see photo below) to assist you with removing only the "outer" ring. Also, be aware that there is a "spring" under the inner ring that pushes it off of the lens - so the inner ring's natural tendancy is to come off of the lens along with the outer ring.

Please note that I have not yet converted the Zeiss ZF 25/2 or 135/2 lenses (although I expect I will be doing one of them in the near future). I do not know if these two lenses have a two-part or a one-part aperture ring.

That's a bummer. But as I keep hearing, the 25 is no slouch.

Thanks Teiki!

Yes, I have a few converted Zeiss ZF lenses.

As most here already know, I'm not big into posting my photos here. I'm writing a book (about 75% done) and they will appear in the book and I don't want to steal my books' thunder by releasing my photos before the book comes out. Don't worry, it will be an ebook available through Amazon.com and will be very inexpensive.

But, I can say this about the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon based upon very limited use so far. It's a heavy lens ( even heavier than the Zeiss 100/2 and 85/1.4 lenses). It is not the sharpest of all the Zeiss lenses, though I guess that it's sharp enough for what I shoot. However, the rendering of the 35/1.4 is outstanding! At f/8 it's colors and contrast make it's photos look almost like a painting. 35mm is not a field of view that I like much, but the Z35/1.4 is making me rethink that dislike. The Z35/1.4 does not have the ability to isolate a subject with that 3D like perspective that the Z28/2 does. Obviously it's not as wide as the Z21/2.8 or the Z25/2.8. I've preiously owned 2 copies of the Z35/2 lens. While I liked that lens, it never was so incredible that it caused me to disregard my dislike of the 35mm field of view - the Z35mm/1.4 is to my eye better than the Z35/2. The depth of field on the Z35/1.4 at 1.4 - 2.2 is so thin that it makes manual focusing more difficult than just about any other Zeiss lens I've owned. Overall, the Z35/1.4 is going to be a lifetime keeper lens for me.
