There might be something in that. I have found that, particularly, my K100DS was very affected by the golden hour light, to the extent I found it ugly, yellowish cast, whereas I do not recall such an effect from either my eye at the time or when I used film at that time of day. My K3 is less yellowish.

Sullivan's Cove with the K-1 and FA20/2.8

I'm finding this lens works best with the K-1, stopped down to f11 or f16.

f/11 is the ticket for me. It's a touch sharper at f/8 (distinguishable if you zoom into 100%, but not by much), but DOF better at f/11. I find that aperture the best compromise between the two. On my copy, f/16 suffers a bit due to distraction.

Did you try the half-stop between f8 and f11?

It depends on the subject. The FA20 is sharp in the centre at most apertures. While I didn't notice much of an issue on the APS-C sensor (in spite of what some others have said, which was probably due to some sample variation) the K-1 tests the edges much more on mine. Stopping down improves the resolution at the edges, which is why I've used f16 for the posted photo, even though diffraction effects are probably starting to show. If your main subject is central, just about anything will do. I do wonder if the problem with the edges is curvature of field.

I did. Maybe a touch sharper than f/11 at 100% if you squint - but I prefer the little bit of added DOF that f/11 gives for most comps. For absolute top IQ (with my copy), I'd shoot at f/8 and just focus stack however many images I needed to in order to get everything tack sharp (2 would usually do it, occasionally 3 depending on the composition). But f/11 allows me to pull off lots of images without focus stacking, and without sacrificing much IQ.

I think that's right on. My copy, at least, has a good bit of field curvature (not quite as bad as the Da 15 on K-3, but not a lot better). In practice, this means that I can't move focus that much off infinity stop before the edges of the background start to get a little muddy - so if I want to avoid that I find myself focus stacking more than I would with a lens with lesser field curvature. But given the size, weight, and overall rendering offered by the Fa 20, those are small sacrifices to make IMO.
