The tightness of the DOF on that first shot is delightful... I love how even the front edge of some of the stones is out of focus.

I think this lens is gonna be my next purchase, to go with my newly-acquired K-5iis

Thanks ivanvernon.

Not much technique involved with these photos. They both were taken at about the min focus distance. The first is SOC and resized for posting. The second was cropped to exclude the "messy stuff" around the Indian Pipe.

Thanks. Actually I was referring to the light painting photo, however.

Roger. I got the idea from a light painting video on YouTube.

I cut out a circular piece of 1/2" blue board, bore a hole in the center and put a dowel through it. I then taped a battery operated string of lights to the outside. I put it on the floor and spun/pushed it around for several revolutions (this part took me several tries before I could get it right). I took the photo in my cellar, lights out, camera on a tripod, manual focused on the center dowel, and used about a 6-10 sec exposure. The 36" light string I got from the Christmas Tree Shop.

It's been awhile since we posted to this thread. Here's one I took today for the DIC challenge.
