Lovely. I find the title distracts from the image, though.

Thanks for your comments.

Yes, I feel that way is the case too unfortunately.

The thought process behind it was that I wanted to cover up some parts.
A sort of visual tease not to review everything to the viewer.

Black tape would be too harsh 😁
So thought of it like a mag cover with the text.

A couple of streets/people/candids around Bandung
With the A50/2
I opted for a cheap but reliable lens since I had no idea of security of the place and also wanted a small and light lens.
Turned out that Bandung was safe and nice.

M20/4

I'm really glad that I went for this lens over the f2.8 versions.
The portability has just meant that it gets taken out more.

How do you find the M20/4 on FF digital? My copy never gets sharp in the extreme corners on film, and looking forward to trying it on the new Pentax FF.

I see the same on the A7.
In fact I think I have some impression and views on this in an earlier post here.
Don't know if it's the sensor stack thickness of the A7 or inherent in the lens.
Since you get it on film too, maybe it's a lens thing.

That said, I do find that at f11, its passable, and its really only the corners and the sides are good.
Less field curvature problems too vs many f2.8 20mm lenses.
In fact many faster 20mm have more issues with sharpness just past the center of frame. (On A7 at least)

Also in my own practical use, its often cropped off once I fix for distortion or choose a non 6x4 aspect ratio.

I've also printed A4 and the corners were not apparent at all.

The size/portability, balances off well against only the last bits of the corner IQ for me.

Btw, my A7 has been sent for a thin filter mod, so I will be certain how much the sensor stack affects these old SLR wides.

Pinholecam, I read recently that the thin filter mod should fix the sensor reflections, but probably won't do much for image quality for slr lenses. Of course, I just learned the mod exists a few days ago. :-) I'd be greatly interested in your assessment since second hand a7's are now around $800.

The thin filter mod seems to do mostly good.
Sensor reflection is reduced significantly.
AA filter is removed as part of the mod.
Edge bluring issues for RF lenses improved for some lenses.

The penalty seems to be some color casting, which most have said it's a non issue with color correction in post.
Their pictures send ok to me too.

As for SLR lenses, I suspect it will be lens dependant.
Those with more field curvature may benefit more (I suspect)

The 'lie' (perhaps too strong a word) about the A7 series is that it's a very small system that works with RF lenses.
Fact is that it's not.
Even the likes of a Leica 50mm summicron v1 and v2 (I tried both) don't get tack sharp off center at f5.6 (sharp, but we all know most 50s get tack sharp by this setting).

So the mod is primary for my RF lenses.

I will certainly update the outcome once the camera returns.
