To me, this is certainly one of the lenses that 'defines' the Pentax look.
A bold drawing style (esp in high contrast relationships between subject and bkgnd), pleasing bokeh in most situations, deep contrast and rich colors.
All in a nice well built package of course.

Revuenon 55/1.2 in Pentax K mount (also often branded as Cosina, Tomioka )

Certainly as good as any of the legacy f1.2 50mm are there.
Often for less.

Wow lots of nice series of shots with the FA31.

Is this picture taken in SG? Which beach is that.

Thanks.

They were taken at Telunas Beach Resort (Batam)
Its quite a distance from the main island.
Another 1h30min from the main port in fact.

K50/1.2

This is one of the best f1.2 50mm out there.

Smaller build than the others, solidly built and very good balance between performance and bokeh.
All fast 50's will fail in the bokeh in some situations (ie. bkgnd type/distance, subject distance, etc)
But the Pentax is certainly one that where this happens in less situations.

I've really enjoyed this thread. I am currently an a7 shooter and am brand agnostic when it comes to adapting lenses for it. I'm now considering adding some Pentax lenses to my kit.

My favorite based on my taste for rendering:
-All the FA limiteds
-A 50mm f/1.2
-FA 85mm f/1.4
-A 135mm f/1.8

How do you guys find the manual focus performance on the AF lenses such as the FA? One thing I like about the old glass is that it is designed for manual focus.

Although I must currently resort to film for full frame shooting I can jump in here. I have been using the FA 85 a lot with manual focus. It is OK but definitely not as nice or precise as the older all manual lenses. The focus throw is also a little short--approximately 90 degrees. Good luck in finding an A 135mm f/1.8!

Thanks for sharing. As nice as it is, it would be hard for me to go with the 135 f/1.8 when I can pick up the Sony 135mm f/1.8, which is also excellent (but large on mirrorless.)
