Also shot with the 1dsmkII, with a lens that has a Pentax K-mount, the Vivitar 17-28mm @ 17mm IIRC.

Hmm... 17-28mm .....

Looks like I needed to look at this lens as FF UWA option.
Thx for sharing.
Nice shoot btw

Two shots with the Pentax FA77/1.8 Limited

This lens is about the size of a 50mm f1.8, which obviously cannot be shown in the picts, but adds to its easy of portability in my camera bag.

Wow nice depth in that first shot Pinholecam! that FA77 is a nice lens for sure !

That 17-28mm lens I have isn't the best performer, it is really soft (but it gets sharp enough from f/8-f/11) and it has a lot of vignetting at 17mm and the coating is not too good (pentax coating is much better)
But if you find a way to work around that then it can deliver the goods ...

Here's another one with the same lens, I had to crop a bit because the corners got really dark

Two shots from Sentosa.
Soligor 17/4
I never used this lens much on aps-c since the kit lens was far lighter.
But it makes a lot of sense now to use it on FF.

The 77ltd is a magnificent lens either on aps-c or FF.

Incidentally, a guy on the local Sony forum (a disgruntled former Pentax user) remarked that once he got a Contax G 90/2.8 it became apparent he would sell off his 77ltd because it was more prone to CA.
To me that's plain silly.... (different FL; f-stop
I seldom even see convincing samples from the G 90mm as opposed to many nice ones from the myriad of 85mm, 100m out there.

Oops! There's a little girl who visits with her parents, and she loves a musical teapot we have in our visiting kids' bag.

No problems....
The teapot was from his sister.

Soligor 17/4 again

I'm getting very surprised with this lens.
It seems to perform far beyond my expectation of it (thought it was a wrong buy on aps-c)
It seems to look sharp enough that I don't have much to grumble over, though the real judgement would be to compare with a more 'reputable' UWA lens on the same camera.

Very nice picture. At PF resolutions, the only flaw, if it is a flaw, is the flare around the light mid left.

Yes, flare is certainly the issue with this lens.
In night situations, I've yet to try removing the filter on the lens which may also be part of the problem, but I do think the lens does not have that good a flare resistance in the first place.
One of the reasons why I'd like to find either a Pentax UWA or a more modern option (hopefully a smallish lens)

I would definitely remove the filter. I haven't used filters other than polarizers and neutral density for over 20 years. My lenses still look fine. I do use hoods at all times.
