I really like this lens; it's so versatile. Another from our Iceland trip in February, five landscape oriented images stitched in Lightroom.

Okay, last couple for now

I'm considering getting this lens myself. May I ask, how does it handle in the cold? I've mostly used the DA 18-135 plastic lens winter time (down to -15C) - do you find the metal to cause any issues when it gets below freezing? Is it easy to operate with gloves/mittens? Any frostnip on fingers?

Iceland was hovering around the zero degrees mark when we were there and for the period of time I was using the lens the cold wasn't a problem - the lens performed as it should and pockets were available to use!
Very easy to use with gloves due to the knurled design of the zoom ring and the excellent and easy-to-use focus ring.
Of course, -15 is a bit different but a thin pair of merino wool gloves should do for handling the lens, doubled up with a thicker pair between shots. We had a couple of nights outside when it dropped a bit but I tend to use manual focus lenses then.

Joining the club. I moved from the Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 to this lens. It isn't quite as easy to separate the subject from the background, but I think that can be overcome with some technique. Overall, the sharpness and contrast is amazing. I didn't have to do a lot of post production, the images just seemed right.

How durable is the finish on this lens? I've dropped the cap a couple of times and it's got a fair few scuffs on it, while I'm terrified on taking the lens out on a more rough outing.

The finish wears off as with all metal lenses - at least the ones I own.
I bought the DA20-40 in May 2014 and have taken well over a thousand images; it goes everywhere unless I make a conscious effort to leave it behind

Optics perfect, barrel worn = well looked after and well used.
Optics perfect, barrel pristine = lens not used!!

You should see the state of my DA15.

I just received my DA 20-40 from the marketplace and WOW! I think I will love it!

First tests: Jardin anglais, Geneva, Switzerland with K3 and HD DA 20-40 (no PP):

Thanks, I need some time to use it properly but I like the colour rendering of it, like you show it in your picture.

I am glad you liked it. I am ...still learning about this lens! This one focused (manual focus) to infinity and I waited for the evening golden hour moment.

I really like this lens. It is almost like a bag of primes. Here's a few pics from a recent vacation to Mexico.

I'm also a recent convert to this lens, found a new copy in the marketplace and bite the bullet as they say. I've just used it a few times but I'm already sold on the results.

Technically, I guess I used the K1 and DFA 150-450 to get this close up of Johnny Rook (striated caracara).
The little devil was stalking me.
