...Just pressed "buy" and can't wait for it to arrive...all nice shining silver.

Thanks for all the photos and user experiences provided in this thread - it was this that finally, after several months of uhhmming and aaahhhing and reading every available review that finally won me over.

Been waiting for a used one to come up in Australia, but that just hasn't happened, so brand spanking new it will be!

Looking forward to contributing its first photos.

Good luck with the purchase.

Hopefully the early quality control problems are behind us, but check it out anyway.
Be careful with the focusing at the wide end.
I often use CDAF from live view there for accuracy.

We look forward to seeing your photos.

My black 20-40 arrived middle of last week, taken it out twice so far. Need to get in to lightroom but so far I think I'm going to be very pleased.

The DA*50-135 might have something to say about that. Otherwise yes I can definitely see it becoming my every day lens.

I'm looking for a medium tele lens. How do you like the DA* 50-135? I've heard people saying that the SDM isn't worth buying. My other option would be either FA 77 or D FA 100 WR.

Personally I've found the lens to have simply stunning IQ and handling. It's worth the SDM risk imo. Get a warrantied copy, new or used, if you're a worrier.

I still can't make up my mind to be honest. There're so many options to choose from. The D-FA 100 WR is secretly a limited lens; the FA 77 has a large aperture; DA 70 is so compact that I can carry it at anytime while using my K-50 with 20-40; the Samyang 85mm has a large aperture and is very cheap albeit without auto-focusing. They are all great lenses and I don't know which one to go for.

I personally have no experience with the 50-135 but since you mentioned some others:
I find the 20-40 with the DFA 100WR to be an excellent and versatile lightweight combo.

Two from my flight in to Kantishna in Denali National Park last week, taken from the back of the Kantishna Air Taxi (Cessna 206), HD DA 20-40mm Limited. I'm really loving this lens so far too!
