I see that there is a review already. Tested with a K-5IIs. Is it available now?

Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM (Art) Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database
That review doesn't seem very credible, the lens hasn't shipped in Pentax mount yet, at least in Canada. More than that, the information I have suggests it has not even been produced in a Pentax mount yet.

That said, there is this review and a seemingly disreputable UK dealer listing the lens in stock. Perhaps a few have slipped into the UK? None of their major dealers are listing it in stock yet, so it seems extremely unlikely.

I suspected as much. I sent a PM to the reviewer and have not received a reply. My lens budget is bursting and I will have to seek an alternative for this year.

Can anyone who has access to this lens please post some photos of people, preferably at the wide end, preferably at f/1.8, preferably indoors, preferably at night? That is ALL I want this lens for, and I can't find any examples of it being used this way anywhere on the internet!

Here's one for a laugh, the first shot with Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 on a K-5! No, it was not a Pentax-mount lens. I held the aperture wide open with an elastic on a Nikon sample, then held it up to my camera body, so there may be a slight degree of shift in this shot.

Good show! Thanks for that. I never did thank you for your contributions with the Canon, so thanks for that, too. Fingers crossed for that June release, hey?

I've taken the lens on a hike or two since starting the thread. It's nice to have all this flexibility, DOF-wise, in a zoom.

19mm f/4

35mm f/2.8

18mm f/5.6

29mm f/2.2 (right into the sun)

Thanks for showing sample of shooting directly into light source.
It appear that sigma coating is not as good as pentax coating?
I want this lens though.

No idea of the release date?

Has anyone heard any news about the release date of Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 lens?

I wonder if signing up for the pre-release at B&H will get it to me any faster?

Thanks,

Bradley

It's on sale right now at Henry's, here in Canada, but it's a special order, if you called them thy might be able to give you a deliver date....
SIGMA 18-35MM F1.8 DC PENTAX LENS (ART) A1835DCHP

It would depend on whether Sigma Canada has any in their warehouse...they should be able to tell you that after a few phone calls.

I just recieved the lens for my K3 and took it for a hike in the woods. The weather wasn't the best but the lens performed well!
