Thanks but actually I think I fixed it myself. Not exactly sure how but everything works well now. I think what was happening is that I kept forgetting to align a pin which prevented the lens from focusing down to closest focus and out to infinity.
Now, the aperture blades are snappy, lens focuses correctly (as far as I could tell), and pictures are... Well... Bokeh-ey. It is very soft in the center at bf1.2 but it is f1.2. I also have a better idea of how to fix this lens now.
