I haven't tried with mine... thanks for the idea.
Some say it is Pentax-M lens in fact, but it might be also identical to Cosinon 35, both are regarded at least OK for astro. And your images prove it is very, very good lens.

I do own a copy of the M 35/2.8 with metal hood (from the SMC Tak 35/3.5) - I have to say that the Rikenon out performs it (and I do not have a hood for the Rikenon). Whether it is the same optics?

The 35/2.8 XR apparently had to versions - Early version w f16 as min aperture, 6 blades and MFD of 35cm. Late version = just like the M 35/2.8 - f22 as minimum aperture, 5 blades, 30cm MFD.

My copy of the XR corresponds with the early version. All of this is just info I've gathered from different sources including postings from users here at PF.

Google translate does a decent job at traducing the page (judging from the English result)

See above - someone else also pointed that out to me = I believe the 2nd version of the lens is identical to the M 35/2.8 (which I also have)... the first version of the rikenon is a bit different.

Very nice - it works even better than closer look of the skyscrapers.

Rikenon XR 35/2.8

@ f5.6

@ f16

Shooting circumstances were not optimal; one handed while on bridge traffic through the passenger window (opened). Not making excuses, just explaining the circumstances and why the shots are the same subject, but not the same angle.

XR 35/2.8 - it is going in the shelve for a while after a few more samples - I finally got my gear off of storage and I must re-discover the glass that was put away!

It's an issue that I also have - too much wonderful vintage gear... so little time!

Great rose picture!

I'll say - storing most of my gear really allowed me to get to know very well the few lenses I kept. Now the storing was not voluntary; I had to do it as I was moving and was going into a temporary place (thus most of our stuff went into storage).

Nevertheless, I do recommend something like this be done every once in a while - I reckon the single in challenges do this very well... I may try one of those next month = any ideas where to find one (single-in challenge)?

PS - thanks for the comment on the rose
