The Ricoh Rikenon K-Mount Lenses Club

The off-brand club got a little bit out of hand. There's enough Rikenon lenses, and they're good enough, that they should have their own club, I think Hopefully the mods will agree.

I only have two, but they're 2 out of my set of 4 lenses that I carry everywhere (the other two being Pentaxes, the DA 35 2.4 and the A 135 2.8).

So here's the Rikenon XR 28mm 2.8:

This is the Rikenon XR 50mm 1.4:

And this is the RIkenon XR 50mm 1.4 with the Sigma Achromatic Macro lens. With Pentax AF280T in manual, low setting. f/11, and no color boost or sharpening at all:

At f/1.4 the Rikenon XR 50mm isn't all that great, but it can be useful for that "dreamy" effect:

So. What are your favorite Rikenon lenses?

I have the 35-70mm P zoom. It hasn't seen lot of use lately but it's a pleasure to use for close focus work.

Here's a shot of my younger boy from this past summer. It was a JPG straight out of my K-30.

It produces ridiculously sharp images!

I've seen that lens on Ebay and I never thought much of it... but that image is fantastic, Boris!

Are Rikenons the K-mount's best kept secret?

I'm pretty jealous of that 55 1.2! I've yet to see it for sale anywhere.

More Rikenon XR 50 1.4. All stopped down, I was walking around and didn't take notes. I think f/5.6 for most of them if not all.

I find this lens is a challenge to focus. I keep front focusing with it all the time. Much different from my Sears 50 1.7 (also made by Ricoh) where the focus area just "snaps" in place and becomes a bit 3D on the viewfinder. Just like the 55 f/2 I just got, but that's another story

When the Rikenon 50 1.4 does get focused properly, it's a pretty rewarding lens. But the MF 1.7 and 2.0 lenses I have in this focal range might be a bit more useful, as they can also get these results (or better) and are easier to use...

More Rikenon XR 50 f/1.4 goodness... did some more PP on one of the pics I posted above, and added its companions from that same day...

This is my baby boy when he was just over a month old, I think... the Rikenon makes a fine portrait lens. IMHO...

Some very nice photos here. I haven't used my fungus-infected Ricoh 50/2 for ages.

Jan, these are superb shots. Feel free to post more

I certainly wouldn't mind finding a Rikenon XR 24mm f/2.8, but they seem to be rarer than a white unicorn...

Ricoh Rikenon 50 mm f 1.4

The 50 mm f 1.4 is my only Rikenon lens. It is a great lens, excellent for narrow DOF applications with nicely blurred backgrounds. Nothing to post as of this writing, but will be sure to post something soon.

Here's the Rikenon XR 28mm f/2.8 again. There were all taken around the building where I work. I guess I'm kind of out of ideas

I've done a more proper PP work on the pictures of roses that I took with the Rikenon XR 50 1.4 last year... the one in the first post was just done quickly on Picasa... here it is with a better crop:

Here's another that I actually like better now... it's like the OOF areas have been painted with a brush!
