I thought I had enough lenses and that I was safe, being on the outs with PayPal and living now in Peru, but wouldn't you know it there's a dealer in used cameras and lenses here in Arequipa, and he had a 1958 copy of a Pentacon 50mm f1.8 Electric lens. The aperture mechanism needs to be cleaned and relubed, but the glass is very clean and it focuses smoothly. He wanted $50 for it. I offered $15, and he readily accepted. I've only had it for two days, but I'm already very impressed with it. It's extremely sharp wide-open, has great contrast, renders colors well, and has very pleasing bokeh (wide-open at any rate). Until I can find the right lubricant (Any suggestions?), I'll be shooting with it wide-open. It's my flower lens now.
A couple of shots taken at f1.8 and MFD, hand-held. No post processing, but a crop on the flower image.
