Seems to be an excellent lens with a mild warm tint. Or is the warm tint from the camera or other settings?

... it's a wonderful lens just like its big brother 200mm f4. It has a very typical tonality of the lenses of the time...

Few forest scenes

Three maple tree forest scenes with K-1 and CZJ 80mm f 2.8. This is the Zebra version, and has to be handled carefully or you will have plenty of "artistic" flair. Joking aside, the flair sometimes has a pleasing quality.

Picture of the industrial area of Linz, Austria.

X-T2 with Pentacon Prakticar MC 28mm f2.8

I've had some of the CZJ lenses for a while, this is my first Pentacon:

That is a good one, very sharp and good color. I have several lenses in Pentacon (P6) mounts: Carl Zeiss Jena 80mm, CZJ 120mm, and CZJ Sonnar 180mm--all great lenses worth owning. I also have the fisheye Arsat 30mm f 3.5, a real budget solution to go wide, wide, and fisheye is pretty moderate on K-1. These are all medium format lenses which also work fine on APS-C or full-frame mount if you do not mind the different field of view. I use them on the K-1, 645D, and 645Z.

Just bought a Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 4/25 with what looks like an M42 thread mount.

I cannot really find a huge amount of information on it compared to the Helios for example; is it not a popular lens?

I appreciate F/4 isn't particularly quick but there is just something in the images that appealed to me. These are from the auction site (courtesy saleroom.com):

Does this lens get much love?

While not very fast, for decades the Carl Zeiss 4/25 was a must own for every professional photographer for creating nearly distortion free architecture pictures. Keep in mind, that in alalogue times, you could not correct distortion afterwards. I think there was a later 2.8/25 which was better in most respects, but had some more distortion. It was used a lot for landcape, but many photographers still preferred the older F4 for archtecture.

I never owned any of the two, so my knowledge is just from many german and english speaking photography sites, and magazines from before the internet.

I am very sorry!!!
Must be the age. I mixed up the Carl Zeiss 20mm and 25mm lenses.
So, about the 4/25, I don't have any more information than you.

No worries, I too kept coming across the 20mm lens and started reading then realised it wasn't the one I was looking for (can you not hear that in Sir Alec Guinness's voice )

I've got one in Exakta mount. It's a nice enough little lens, even if it's not that fast. My biggest complaint on it is the size of that front element; worry about scratching it probably keeps me from using it more than I should.

Exakta VX1000.
Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 25mm f4.
Svema Super Positive 0.8 ISO.

Thank you and that's a lovely image, great line and atmospheric.

Taking heed of your point about the lens, I wonder if there is a hood that will fit it and offer a bit more security. I'll do more checking once I have it in hand.

Whilst waiting for the Flektagon to arrive, this also arrived:

Meyer-Optik Görlitz Orestor 2.8/100. Lovely lens and very compact. It's an M42 mount version.

The Flektagon arrived. Boy is that a big chunk of glass and the aperture is tiny but super super smooth.

I'll get some pictures up in a day or two.
