FYI, this next photo was taken with my Blackberry (poor quality), but this is just to illustrate the working distance ...

Wow Weevil !
That's quite a stunning show of the IQ of this combo.

I am still eagerly waiting for my own HD 1.4X TC ... ordered June 17 !
Apparently, it's back order all over the stores.

How did you find the AF on jets with the TC?

I'm going to a few airshows over the next few weeks and would be happy if the 60-250mm and 300mm could keep focus lock when using the teleconverter

Awesome collection!

Amazing selection of lenses and pictures!

Seems I'll need to persuade my wife to get this new TC, as that seems to be a great addition to her Pentax gear!

She's very happy with her new 70-300CX lens (which in 35mm terms equals a 190-800 lens)

Anyone tried it on the HD DA55-300?!

On a terribly hot day here in Sweden,

Tord

Just received my TC ... still in the box until I get home later from work.
In the meantime ...

Technical info needed:

Do I just update the firmware for my K5 to the very latest version -- that should include the TC, right?
I think I am still running the camera with V. 1.13.

Anything else I need to do ?

Thanks,

JP

Nope. As you say, update firmware to latest version and away you go.

I'm taking mine along to an airshow tomorrow with the K-3 and Sigma 100-300mm f4 so hoping it will all work ok. Taking the Sigma 50-500mm OS as well though just incase.

Thanks Mike.

I had a Sigma 100-300 a while back. That was a fine lens, so good luck with the setup.
Post some pics when you return.

JP

Edit:

So ... after the firmware update, which really went well, I took some various shots at different distances.
Results: great! (No pictures to post yet ... soon.)
I found that I had to crank the EV up to +0.7 though. I was shooting in TAv as usual with K5 plus DA*300/4. Normal I would think?
Interestingly, the AF was snappier especially for distant objects.

That does it, I'm getting one. If it stands up this well on the Q, it's a winner.
