Great skill getting that shot considering the 300 focus speed.

Your skill is the best advertisement and endorsement of the 560.
Pentax should be paying you for the great work you are doing showing the capability of the lens.

Agreed! It cannot be easy to use that long lens with 1 TC let alone 2!

So I bought the TC three days ago, but first today I had time for a small walk. Regrettably the weather was not good, low cloud whole day.
Anyway, I've met this (she-)woodpecker.

That is incredible that you can get that sharp with stacked TC's. Impressive, to say the least.

Very nice captures. Do you remember the settings for focus that you used? Thanks

If you click on the image, it will bring you to the flickr page, where they are all listed...
in this case: 1/1250s, iso 400, f5.6 (wide open)

Any chance you know the focus settings - centerpoint, select 5 etc? and the type of following/tracking parameters that you set?
It seems that you nailed the focus using the 300 (not a particularly fast to focus lens) and I would like to try out the settings if you remember what they were.

Hi, also on the flickr page, you could click on "show Exif" link for more detailed info... (should be in English in your interface)

Ricoh IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. Pentax K-3

smc PENTAX-DA* 300mm F4 ED [IF] SDM
ƒ/5.6
420.0 mm
1/1250

....

I was spot metering and continuous focusing. I saw this bird coming in my direction, so I has plenty of time to start focusing (pressing the shutter half-way) and followed it until it came at the right angle, used HI burst mode, and ended with 18 shots, and 8 are very good... these are the best ones based on the bird position of wings, etc...
