The plane shots are awesome, DC pilot. Great color and dramatic layouts. Re: your flower shots. They are very good and could be very much better in my opinion if you would brighten them up in photo shop or whatever photoediting you use.
The really nice bokeh is excellent, but brightening up the flowers would really make them pop. An easy fix. Looking to see more from that cool 35-70! Freddy

My Noisy Little Friend

This thread has inspired me to dust off the F 35-70mm and take it for a 'street' outing. I found some good macro subjects along the way, street vendors and colorful characters on the mall.
# 1 is done with macro enabled, 70mm, f/5.6, 1/80s, ISO 80.
# 2 is @ 40mm.
I tried pan-blur with 1/50s shutter (# 3) and the little zoom handled the AF-tracking like a champ on that frame, her face and hair is clear enough for this style of shot, imo.
# 4 is faster, 1/200s and pretty much froze this Rock Star.
Also, the swirly bokeh prized by some, is very apparent on # 5, that's f/5.6 @ 1/200s, ISO 80, 70mm macro enabled.
A great, fun tiny zoom, try one if you haven't already!
Ron

Pentax-F 35-70 goodness

The 'macro' setting works pretty well, I would say.

I would say so, Craig. Superb detail on the subject and very pleasing bokeh. Nice work. Freddy

I've had this lens for some time now, grabbed it because of its low price on the second hand market, but it's only recently that I begun to appreciate it. If it were just a little wider, it would make an outstanding walk around lens. Some shots taken with this lens on a K200D:
1)

35mm, perspective corrected in post, F5.6 at ISO400, 1/320s
2)

35mm, F11, ISO100, 20s exposure using a natural support (not a tripod)
3)

40mm, F6.3, ISO400, 1/60s
4)

35mm, F5.6, ISO400, 1/30s

Agrus, that is a very fine lens with great character. I can tell by the pictures. reminds me of my 55mm Takumar lens. Seems to match very well with your K200D. My old
K200D seemed to have this kind of character, which is why I keep it as a backup to my K30. Beautiful shots from you. Regards, Freddy

Thank you, fevbusch. The lens has recently become my lens of choice for most outings, if really is a great glass!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that after comparing this lens to my DA 40 Limited, I honestly believe that if Pentax wanted to they could upgrade the build quality, increase the aperture, and update the coating to re-release this lens as their second Limited zoom. But they wouldn't because they won't risk cannibalizing their current lineup.

I owned the DA40mm ltd. and I did not at all like it. It was sharp and it had good color but closest focusting distance was 21 inches, which drove me nuts. Looking at
the character and IQ of the old f 35-70 lens, here on this forum, I would have gladly traded it for my DA40mm ltd (which I already traded some time ago for a K200D). Added to that
the 35 has a little wider angle, which I find meaningful, judging by my satisfaction with my DA 35mm 2.4 plastic fantastic. I can't believe the low prices for this F35-70.
