Very cool -- looks like a cross=section of ancient bone.

Orchid in Bokeh

A very tiny orchid at that. With a taste of bokeh from the M50 macro.

This morning I chucked a newly acquired Helios 44 (that is 58mm f2 uncoated ) on my K30 and headed out for a play. I had walked past this Hebe a hundred times before and always discounted it as a ball of blue nothings but this time I chose to bend over and take a bracket of shots with the lens full open and the camera on LV.
Sheer luck
Do any of you lay claim to being able to visualize and bring to fruition a preplanned bokeh image?
Or are you all like me out there trying your luck and hoping the goddesses Pentaxia and Heliosia are smiling your way?

Beautiful

I just try to get some distance between the subject and the background, and let the chips fall...

My wildest bokeh to date.

This is NOT a very pleasant bokeh, but I'll post it for it's uniqueness. It's very difficult to look at the photo for very long, as it tends to overload the visual senses.
When I took this picture, I was merely looking for a reasonably contrasting background, not knowing I would end up with something THIS wild! Cross-posted image.

This is one of the most remarkable photos I've seen in a long, long time! I would think it is very marketable. It has some serious potential. I would think Hallmark would pay dearly to have this! Perfect in every aspect! Bravo!

I keep coming back to this image and admiring it. I guess the the key to a good bokeh is that it matches the subject-- this bokeh could easily be too busy for say a portrait but it matches the crazy curves of the orchid to perfection. The other great thing about the image is the juxtaposition of the sepia subject over the splashes of colour.
