I have been unable to locate my old M 50 1.7, and haven't seen it in 10 years- probably buried in my "store room", in a geologically deep area.
So I just bought another one on eBay...

Interesting variation on the theme, Valarie. My set was the basic set - you obviously have/had more lenses. The 28 was the indoor lens for groups, the 55 was the portrait lens (presentations, glad handing, etc.) and the 135 was the soccer/hockey/track & field lens. Mine were M28/3.5, 55/1.8, and M135/3.5. I was issued ASA 400 B&W film. Two rolls of 36 for a soccer game, and they expected at least two quality images per roll. I was just a stringer of course.
Those were the days. In the early 90s, the NYT would Issue as much color negative film you asked for, in any speed (100asa to 800asa)! For personal use I always use reversal. The sharpness of the photos on this thread is unreal. Cant wait to get my k-5. I wonder If the smaller target area of non ff cameras has something to do with it. Even wide open you are not utilizing the edge of the glass, where it can get nasty.

Wow--easy shot to love--great job!

That's only true of lenses designed for 24x36 mm film cameras. DA lenses can easily be limited to the image circle of the 16x24 mm sensor. I think the resolution of APS-C sensors caught up to film with the K10D, which can be printed comfortably up to 24x36 if no cropping is necessary. Most people don't print that large, of course, but I have and will do. I am never afraid to crop an image if the lens isn't long enough, either.

Another from the fantastic M50/1.4:

K10D, M50/1.4, 1/750 @ f/5.6 (I think), ISO 100

Shame about the church roof in the bottom RHS...

I have considered the SMC m 135mm f3.5 and the price is $69 usd. Would that be worth buying? It looks flawless in condition. It's from a camara store.

They also have an A70-200mm f4.0 for $89. Worth it??

Thanks

John

Dont know a lot about that 135, do seem to go cheaper

We'll both have our feet screwed to the floor and matches put between our toes
for talking about an "A" lens in the "M" thread
I'll whisper it... had it almost 30 years, big favorite of mine. if in great shape, not bad $
have a look in lens reviews and "A" lens thread here, maybe search site.
officially "A"70-210/F4 macro
Ashai optics (Pentax) constant apeture zoom len's are well regarded to this day.

Your shot is similar to one I took on Saturday a few minutes after purchasing the very same lens you used for this one! For 89GBP its in beautiful condition and so far Im extremely happy with it. The first two were taken at f5.6 or f8, the third at f2 I think:

Thank you BillM. I won't tell anyone that you helped me with the "A" lens question. :-)

I have the k version and it's a good lens , $69 seems a little high but it is from a camera store and i have a tendency to shop junk shops lol. I believe i paid about $35CAN for the K, and see them in the 50-70 range usually

Hi

Nice to see there this kind of club for amazing M's.

M lens is reason to that I got Pentax. I didn't have dslr when I got broken MV-1 with M 40-80 lens. I was going to get some CaNikon dslr, but I'm glad I didn't.

Now I own M 40-80 2.8-4 and M 50 1.7. Still looking new treasures.

Here is some shots. First with 40-80, second with 50 1.7 and third with 50+some extensions
